Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He defended 4 early opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
